CARNIVAL GATEWAY
Carnival — a century-old tradition at CMU — temporarily transforms the campus into an improvised urban ecosystem each spring. Students gain hands-on experience by working through the logistics of constructing a full-scale entrance pavilion, from prefabrication and on-site assembly to installation, documentation, and eventual reuse.
The Spring 2025 Pavillion employed the structurally stable triangle module to form everything from the overhead trussed arches you walk under to the benches you sit on.

As a management team, we were in charge of the pavillion's design, construction, and on-site assembly. Effectively communicating the construction process to students across the school was essential, requiring clear diagrams and ituitive construction jigs.
